INTRODUCTION

Risk management is no longer the exclusive responsibility of specialised risk teams. In today’s complex and highly regulated environment, managers and professionals across all functions are expected to understand risk concepts and apply them to everyday decision-making. Strategic choices, operational priorities, and governance responsibilities increasingly depend on informed risk awareness.

The ERM and IRM for Non-Risk Professionals Course is designed to provide non-risk specialists with a clear and practical understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Integrated Risk Management (IRM). The course explains risk concepts in accessible language, reducing technical jargon while maintaining alignment with recognised frameworks and best practices.

This training course places risk management within the broader context of corporate governance, internal audit, and compliance. Participants explore how these functions interact and how effective coordination supports organisational performance, resilience, and accountability. Emphasis is placed on understanding risk appetite, risk tolerance, and how risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and reported.

The course also introduces the transition from traditional risk approaches to integrated risk management. Participants gain insight into how ERM and IRM support better decision-making during periods of uncertainty, crisis, and change, while ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, mandates, and regulatory expectations.

Key focus areas include:

  • Risk management within corporate governance frameworks
  • The ERM, internal audit, and compliance relationship
