INTRODUCTION

This 10-day programme is designed to give you a feel of the major management issues, tensions and dilemmas being faced by economies, organisations and individuals and examples of how they are being tackled. It will highlight the skill sets and knowledge that a modern manager needs to cultivate in order to operate efficiently.

Each session is designed to give you an overall understanding and the impact of the issues without going into detailed theoretical explanations. Recognising the limited time available this programme provides a summary of the debates presently ongoing with regard to each issue or functional area without going into detailed functional specific expertise.

The overall aim of the programme is to give you an exposure to the issues that need to be managed and possibly provide a direction for your future personal career development and training needs. This programme will help you to develop your core understanding and capability of:

PROGRAMME SUMMARY

The need to change is an accepted fact of the 21st century. The question facing organisations is not about ‘whether we should change’ but more about ‘how do we change and adapt to this rapidly changing landscape of the 21st century’  The purpose of this training session is to provide the participants with an overview of the fundamentals behind the various functional areas within the organisation (Global business, Strategy, HRM, Finance, Marketing, Operations) and how they are changing so that they can take more informed decisions. It will also help to enhance the understanding of more underlying and subtle issues (Knowledge Management and Innovation, Corporate Social responsibility) that are impacting organisations in the 21st century. This session will also highlight the personal and analytical skills that the participant needs to cultivate in order to succeed in this dynamic environment. It is hoped that the participants will have a more well-rounded and holistic understanding of the organisation, its environment and also some of the personal skills and traits the participants require to succeed in this environment.
